President's Corner for May 2023
To the members, I hope this note finds you well this spring?
We find ourselves once again defending our rights from the power hungry, "we know what is best for you in Washington" politicians . For most of my life I can remember my family discussing this around the dinner table. We need to be on the front line at all times protecting our "Rights". Why I bring this up is May 16th primary election day. Be sure you know how even our local people seeking election if they are willing to defend our fragile Constitution and Bill of Rights?
I just read a headline "Pa. Game Commission expects lines and slowdowns with the new doe tag sales". It appears our mailing of the pink envelopes is a thing of the past. The fourth Monday of June we will be standing in lines at your license vendor buying your doe tags over the counter or sitting in front of your computer trying to navigate the new process on line. Bryan Burhams, Game Commissioner executive director, " It could be most people go online or go to Walmart. We anticipate at peak times it's going to slow the system down". Oh boy sounds like fun times for all!
On a lighter note. The kids day fishing went well and there were some whoppers caught. They fished hard as the trout weren't that cooperative. We have seen some really nice fish coming out of the pond this year. A big thank you to the fish committee. And to the kitchen crew on opening day. The breakfast was great. Next year even if you are not fishing opening day bring the family for a hearty breakfast.
Hope to see you at the meeting. And till next month all the best.

Outdoor Range & Other Items
The winner of the April Highpower Offhand math was Hays Raab with a 476/500 score. The unofficial high score was an impressive 497/500 prone score fired by Sean Prosser. Also, welcome to Don Moyer.
This month's match will be held on the 28th, will be a standard service and match rifle event, and will be dedicated to a fallen Veteran named at the event.
Black Powder shoot will be May 7th, and we hope to welcome Joe Gontek back after a long recovery from illness.
Branch Valley will be hosting a 4H Field Day on June 10th from 8AM until completion. It includes archery, air rifle, 22 rimfire, shotgun, and I'm not sure what else.
The Bucks County rifle team will hold practice sessions for this event in the indoor range from 7 to 9 PM on Friday June 2nd and 9th. The overhead structure at the outdoor range(s) is there for safety and protection, and is not to be used as a sighting in medium. I shouldn't have to say this, but at least one member needs clarification regarding this issue.

Archery Club
The Archery club gets together Monday night indoors from 7 till 9 to shoot a round of 3D targets.
The indoor range has a green arrow curtain that can be pulled in front of the pistol backstop. The curtain is rated for a 50lb bow using blunt bullet tip points. We have target bails and foam blocks to be placed between the targets and the curtain. This is to prevent damage to the curtain and to your arrows in the unlikely chance you miss.
On the outdoor archery range target houses have been placed at 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. CrossBow speed bags are installed on all of the target houses. Please put the crossbow speed bags back on top of the foam blocks to keep them out of the weather when you are finished.
Good News! Broadheads can be shot at the Styrofoam blocks in the target houses. Just be careful when removing the broad heads and pulling out large chunks of the foam.
PLEASE DO NOT SHOOT BROADHEADS AT THE “CROSSBOW SPEED BAGS” OR ANY OTHER TARGET ON THE CLUB GROUNDS.
Fishing Committee May 2023
The Trout season started with the most attended Junior Member Day that we have had in recent memory. The fish did not cooperate that morning but the successful Juniors caught large trout.
We have also had more trout caught than in recent memories with even pages of reports filled in by the end of the second week. There are many trout still in the pond, you have to have a line in the water if you want to catch them.
Many of the trout have a pinkish or even red flesh. Reports are that they are excellent on the table. Enjoy them while you can.
The Fishing Committee

 Members and Friends,
It's up to each one of us to keep track of what our elected representatives are up to and let them know our opinion. One of the best and easiest methods is to sign up at the Gun Owners of America (GOA) web page:
There is no cost and you don't have to join the organization. GOA will send you email alerts when any bills (pro and con, US and State) come up for votes, advise you of executive actions and more.
If you also enter your physical address, it will tailor pre-written reply letters to your specific US and PA reps and senators. You can always write your own reply text or alter the pre-written version as you see fit. You can look up voting records, voter guides, legislation info, etc.. It is a great resource to help keep track and quickly let you opinion be known.
Remember, Freedom Is Never Free!
